Many of the hundreds of Eastern Kentuckians, and their spouses, who lost their jobs due to the current COVID-19 pandemic will have the opportunity to apply for free online cybersecurity courses thanks to ReWork EKY.

EKCEP is partnering, through ReWork, with the University of the Cumberlands to offer two 8-week Cybersecurity courses for the Spring I and II terms for the 2021 school year. ReWork will cover program costs for students eligible to participate, including tuition, books, and vouchers for all certification exams.

ReWork EKY is a new EKCEP (Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program) Inc. program that aims to find new employment or retrain Eastern Kentuckians for a new career, with an emphasis on remote work, training, and work-from-home careers, after being laid off due to COVID-19.

These fast-track, eight-week courses include:

·       ITSC 230 – Information Security and Assurance (apply by December 18, 2020)

·       ITSI 331 – Networking (apply by February 12, 2021)

Upon completion of these classes, students will be prepared to sit for industry-recognized CompTIA certification exams in order to gain entry-level work in cybersecurity.

Deadline to apply is Friday, December 18, 2020. Call 606-436-5753 or email reworkeky@ekcep.org to learn more.

Additional information concerning admission into Cumberlands programs is available at ucumberlands.edu/admissions/undergraduate.

Funding for EKCEP to cover program costs for students is provided through EKCEP’s ReWork EKY initiative.
