EKCEP Work Featured on Freethink Media

EKCEP’s work to help Eastern Kentuckians retool for new careers following the decline of the coal industry was featured during a story produced by Freethink, a media organization that provides in-depth coverage on a number of topics.

The video includes an interview with EKCEP Executive Director Jeff Whitehead, along with Kathy Walker, founder of the east Kentucky Manufacturing Institute (eKAMI) and former eKAMI students Kevin and Colton Yonts.

The video was produced as a partnership between Freethink and the Lumina Foundation and also serves as EKCEP’s entry into the Foundation’s Beautiful Minds contest, which provides a funding opportunity to three organizations: EKCEP, Complete 2 Compete, and District 1199C Training Fund.

The contest concludes May 31, and the winner will be announced June 3. The video with the best ratio of likes to dislikes will be awarded the $50,000 prize.
