Opportunity Youth Work Ready Events Scheduled for 21 Counties in Eastern Kentucky

Eastern Kentuckians between the ages of 16-24 will have an opportunity to apply to access immediate job opportunities during a series of Opportunity Youth Work Ready Events throughout January. 

Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program and Kentucky Career Center JobSight are partnering with nine Community Action agencies in the region to host a total of 21 work ready events beginning January 10 through January 25. 

Opportunity Youth is designed to assist individuals living within 23 Eastern Kentucky counties between the ages of 16-24 obtain the skills and connections needed to land a new job and successfully maintain employment. Program participants can expect to gain access to a number of services including:

  • Job placement

  • Funds for transportation, childcare, or housing

  • Paid training

  • Targeted career advising

  • Skill development

Anyone between the ages of 16-24 who also lives within EKCEP’s 23-county service area and is looking for a new job is encouraged to attend one of the Opportunity Youth Work Ready Events and apply. Expert career advisors will be on hand to assist at each of the following events:

  • January 11, 1-5 p.m. at the Elliott County Library, 400 Main St, Sandy Hook, KY

  • January 12, 1-4:30 p.m. at the Harlan Depot, 519 S Main Street, Harlan, KY

  • January 12, 1-4:30 p.m. at Middle Kentucky Community Action, 500 Brown Street, Jackson, KY

  • January 12, 1-4:30 p.m. at Middle Kentucky Community Action, 205 Main Street, Beattyville, KY

  • January 13, 1-5 p.m. at Northeast Kentucky Career Center, 21039 West US HWY 60, Olive HIll, KY

  • January 13, 2-6 p.m. at the Roy Collier Center, 387 Main Street, Inez, KY
